Bert Vrijhoef shares his views on the implementation of ICT in healthcare at an individual, local and global level. The interview was published in the first volume of ICT & Health in 2016.
Because the article is Dutch, some interesting statements of the interview are shared in English:
Working in other cultures for a longer period of time makes you understand the culture way better. This is really important if you want to succeed in using possibilities of ICT in that specific culture. He doesn’t believe that one specific method exists which could implement the ICT in healthcare all over the world.
The potential of ICT in healthcare is high. Though, ICT is not only about technology. The upcoming ICT possibilities force us to think about our culture’s values, like transparency, accountability and sharing knowledge. Even though the technology of ICT is universal, the different cultural values make it necessary for us to approach situations differently.
