A study into the economic impact of Integraded Care Models was published in Value of Health. The study focused on type 2 diabetes mellitus, schizophrenia, and muiltiple sclerosis. Bert Vrijhoef participated in the study as co-author, the first author of the study is Melissa Desmedt from the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences of the Hasselt University in Belgium.

The systematic review presented the result of cost analyses of integrated care models for type 2 diabetes mellitus, schizophrenia, and multiple sclerosis. Most of the studies reported a benificial economic impact of integrated care models.
